Jailbreak iOS 5

So now that iOS 5 has been out for a while you’ve probably been wondering just exactly when the jailbreaks for it would be available right? Well its taken longer than normal and before you get upset about the long wait keep in mind that with iOS 5 there were some pretty big changes not only to the underlying core and code of the operating system but also in the way that Apple has chosen to protect the OS from hacks, patches, and yes of course jailbreaks. They are a smart company with smart people and with iOS 5 they made it about as difficult as you could imagine so it took the jailbreaking crews a little while longer than they would have liked.

The good news is that yes, you can now officially jailbreak iOS 5 but before you do there are some things you’ll want to take into consideration. The first is that since there are a bunch of new protection methods in iOS 5 the jailbreaks haven’t been fully vetted by the community just yet, as a result you may find some apps and features won’t work exactly how they’re supposed to. So far there has been nothing major reported, the only thing i’ve noticed after jailbreaking iOS 5 is that sometimes the maps will skip or jump a little bit when zooming and that my bank of america app will sometimes crash or stop responding for no reason. Outside of little things like that you can expect a mostly stable jailbreak but as always we like to warn people about possible issues that might come up.

For a better jailbreaking experience, I still think a tethered jailbreak is the way to go. I know, I know, you’ll have to rejailbreak if you power down or reboot! Well most people don’t really power down or reboot that often so if you’re one of those people who only turns off their phone once or twice a month its worth the extra stability that a tethered jailbeak can give you. Anyway, enough talking, time to get down to jailbreaking. The updated guide has been added to the members area so dust off your login details and have at it!
